Pakistan vs South Africa, 3rd ODI: Pakistan’s Historic Win Secures Final Spot

February 13, 2025: Pakistan defeated South Africa by 6 wickets in the 3rd ODI, booking their place in the final with their highest-ever successful run chase in ODI history. Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha led the charge with brilliant innings to seal the victory.

Pakistan’s Record Run Chase

Despite losing 3 wickets inside the first 11 overs, Pakistan kept the required run rate under control.

South Africa batted first and scored 350 runs in 50 overs.

Heinrich Klaasen’s explosive innings pushed South Africa to a strong total.

Pakistan started aggressively, with Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman adding 50+ runs in the first 6 overs.

Rizwan and Salman Agha’s Match-Winning Partnership

Salman Agha was dismissed in the 49th over, but the match was already in Pakistan’s favor.

Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 122 off 128 balls.

Salman Agha smashed 134 runs off 103 balls, including 16 fours and 2 sixes.

The duo built a record-breaking 260-run partnership.

Mohammad Rizwan (Captain) Statement:

Chasing 350 wasn’t easy. After Klaasen’s innings, we thought we could restrict them to 300, but we stayed united and fought hard. We need to improve our fielding before the Champions Trophy, and we’ll work on that.

350 seemed enough, but we couldn’t apply pressure. The wicket was good for batting, and our bowlers didn’t hit the right areas consistently. Our batters need to score big totals to give the bowlers a fighting chance.

Salman Agha (Player of the Match):

We planned to take the game deep in 5-over blocks. I enjoyed my innings, and this was a special win for the team.
