New Delhi: Swearing-in Ceremony for Delhi’s New Chief Minister Likely After PM Modi’s US Visit

New Delhi – After securing 48 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now preparing to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony for Delhi’s new Chief Minister is expected to take place after February 13.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit France and the United States from February 10 to 13. The BJP leadership wants him to be present at the swearing-in, making it highly likely that the event will be held after his return.

Race for Delhi’s Chief Minister

BJP has intensified discussions regarding its Chief Ministerial candidate. Among the frontrunners are:

  • Parvesh Singh Verma: A strong Jat leader from Delhi
  • Manoj Tiwari is a Bhojpuri actor and singer, a popular face among Purvanchali voters
  • Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a key Punjabi Sikh leader
  • Smriti Irani senior BJP leader, representing women and minority leadership
  • Vijender Gupta a Veteran Delhi BJP leader
  • Mohan Singh Bisht: Strong foothold in Uttarakhand-origin communities
  • Virendra Sachdeva, BJP’s Delhi state president

High-Level Discussions Underway

The BJP leadership has begun deliberations on the Chief Ministerial face. BJP President J.P. Nadda met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, holding discussions for nearly an hour and a half. The meeting reportedly focused on shaping the new Delhi government and finalizing the swearing-in ceremony.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated, “The decision to select the Chief Minister will be made by the party’s central leadership. All newly elected MLAs are capable of fulfilling their responsibilities.”
