West Indies defeated Afghanistan by 23 runs in their World cup match. Chasing the target, Afghanistan got an early blow with Kemar Roach dismissing skipper Gulbadin Naib, who hit it straight to Evin Lewis. After that Rahmat Shah and Ikram Alikhil added 133 runs for the 2nd wicket. Rahmat Shah made 62 runs before being removed by Brathwaite. Ikram Alikhil scored 86 runs and remained top scorer. Afghanistan mustered 288 all out in reply to fall to their ninth defeat out of nine despite a fighting 86 from Ikram Alikhil. Neither side can qualify for next week’s World Cup semi-finals .
