Sensex gains 194 points to end at 36,636
Sensex and Nifty today extended gains for the third straight session. Both indices rose more than half a per cent on sustained buying mainly in finance, energy and metal counters.
Sensex and Nifty today closed with gains of more than half a percent amid mixed cues from global markets.
Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange gained 194 points to end at 36,636. Nifty at National Stock Exchange also added 66 points to reclaimed 11,000 marks to settle at 11,053.
The rupee today appreciated 21 paise to 70 rupees and 28 paise against the US dollar.
Gold prices were ruling almost flat at 33,430 rupees per 10 gram and, tracking the yellow metal, silver also remained steady at 39,500 rupees per kg.
And, in global crude market, Brent prices were trading around 65 dollars and 70 cents per barrel in intraday trade.
