film festival begins in Goa

Speaking after inaugurating the mega event, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that India has been able to assert its soft power in the world through films. He said, Indian films are being liked the world over and there has been an increase in the audience as well.

Mr Javadekar said that the Government has opened a single window through which all the permissions required to shoot a film in the country will be granted.

Mr Javedakar said that this initiative will benefit Goa, Leh-Ladakh and Andaman-Nicobar as well.

The Minister urged the Indian film industry to make films for the Divyangs (visually-impaired). He said, the narrational aspect in the films made for Divyangs will give these people 360-degree happiness. He also expressed confidence that the film industry will be sensitive to the dDvyangs.

Renowned Superstar Rajinikanth was bestowed with the Icon of the Jubilee Award on the occasion at the hands of Mr Javadekar in the presence of Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Babul Supriyo, Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant, I &B Secretary Amit Khare and several other luminaries from the film world.
